Outlook tries to log into Communigate Pro server twice... once correctly and once incorrectly.

We have seen instances where Outlook attempts to log into a Communigate Pro server once with the user@fqdn and it fails. Then attempts to log in using the correct email address and is successful. We have discovered a way to stop this behavior.

You can check to see if this is happening by reviewing your Communigate Pro logs. If you see entries such as this:

user@fqdn' rejected. Error Code=unknown user account

and then you see this:

user@correctdomainname.com and it's connecting successfully, you know you are having this issue.

This seems to be an issue with the way Outlook communicates with Communigate Pro. To resolve it, make the following changes to your account in Outlook:

Edit your email account in Outlook. In the area where it asks for your username, change your username from user@domain.com to user%domain.com. Put a check in the box that says Require login using Secure Password Authentication (SPA)

Next, edit the More Settings area in your email account. Click the Outgoing Server tab and choose My Outgoing Server Requires Authentication and then choose the Log on using option. In this area, enter your full email address like this: user@domain.com and your password. Put a check in the box that says Require Secure Password Authentication (SPA).

Save your settings and this will resolve the issue.
