Tips for working from home
In these uncertain times, the COVID-19 pandemic is causing more and more people to work from home. All of us at MBF have been working from our home offices the last 15 years, so we wanted to share a few tips about how to make this easier for you to stay productive, happy, and sane.
. It takes a lot of discipline and effort to productively work from home. Don't let the fact that you are home become a distraction in of itself.
. Explain to family and friends even though you are home, you are working.
. Establish a work schedule and do your best to stick to it.
. Find a quiet place to work and personalize your workspace.
. Get dressed as if you are heading to the office. This will help to put you in work mode.
. Keep focused. Make yourself unavailable for non-work related tasks.
. Take regular breaks away from your desk and get up and stretch for five minutes at least once per hour.
. Remember to eat and try to keep it on the healthier side. Drink plenty of water.
. Stay off of Social Media unless it is strictly work related.
. Stay connected to co-workers. There many chat and video conferencing programs out there (e.g. Microsoft Teams, Slack, Skype etc. that will help you to stay connected to your team and staff)
. Do your best to be patient with your family. This is a change for everyone so things may be a bit unsettled for a while.
